Are Bernese Mountain Dogs Good Family Pets?
Berners are a special breed that any family is lucky to have, but they should know the particular traits of the breed when considering adding a fluffy new member to their family
They Are Protective
Berners are known for their affectionate personalities, they have virtually no aggression to adults or children. However, Berners (especially males) are protective of their families and, out of desire to keep their families safe, may confront anyone they believe to be a threat to their pack.
They Are Good-Natured
Known for their calm and friendly dispositions, Berners are also intuitive. Because they are so driven to make their humans happy, they are quick to learn when corrected. Out of their desire to please their owners, Berners have a happy-go-lucky quality about them that makes it easy for them to integrate into any family size, because Berners have enough love to go around (and then some!).
They Tend to Adopt One Person
Although they will love each member of the family, Berners do tend to pick one person in their pack that they are especially loyal to. You can expect them to follow this person around the house, sit at their feet, and basically be their fluffy black shadow and biggest fan. While they will play and love anyone in their clan, they usually pick a go-to person that they especially stick close to.
